RMD Server™

RMD Server Administration

RMD Server has four built-in login types (see PermissionType enumeration):

Read Only
Read and Write
Administrator
Super Administrator

When RMD Server is installed, a preset login database is placed in the RMD Server Logins directory. This preset logins database contains one Super Administrator account. The username is Administrator and the password is password. You will be locked out of RMD Server if the login database is missing or corrupt.

Administrators Vs. Super Administrators

Administrator accounts are allowed to create, truncate, and drop tables but is not allowed to create or edit user accounts. Super Admin is the only login type that allows one to create and edit user accounts, and set login expiration dates. If using RMD Server in Desktop mode, only one Super Administrator account is required.

Adding, Editing, and Removing Accounts

See AddUserAccount, EditUserAccount, and RemoveUserAccount. Only Super Administrators are allowed to perform these actions.

Login States

All user accounts except for Super Administrator maintain a login state and must logout before logging back in, or the account will be locked out.

Adding and Removing Symbol Groups

As stated above, RMD Server allows access restriction to certain Read Only and Read and Write accounts to groups of symbols. Please refer to AddSymbol and RemoveSymbol. Only Super Administrators are allowed to perform these actions.

Backups and Maintenance

RMD Server login and symbol group databases should be backed-up on a daily basis using the Admin Utility. If drive space is low, tick tables may be compressed and archived using the Backup and Compression Utility. It is generally not recommended to archive tick data because once it is archived it cannot be accessed via the CompressTicks function until it is uncompressed.
