RMD Server™

Installing and Redistributing RMD Server Desktop Edition

To install RMD Server on a development machine, simply use the RMD Server Desktop Edition installation wizard. The Desktop Edition of RMD Server is limited to three (3) simultaneous client connections, and is designed to be redistributed with your application. You may not redistribute the RMD Server MSI installer with your application. You must instead package RMDServer.exe with your setup. Before installing RMD Server on a  target machine, first ensure that a minimum amount of hard disk space is available and that the operating system is either Windows 2000, XP, or 2003 Server. Also make sure the RMDServer.ini file is installed and configured properly.

Installing and Maintaining RMD Server Enterprise Edition

RMD Server Enterprise Edition is designed for multiple client connections to one server, and is not redistributed with an application. Before installing RMD Server on your server, first ensure that your server meets or exceeds these requirements:

Operating System: Windows 2000 Server or Windows 2003 Server or greater.

CPU: Multiple processors, 2GHz minimum.
RAM: Greater than 1GB free RAM
Storage: High performance hard drives are required. Because RMD Server tables may grow to several terabytes in size, RAID 10 or better is recommended. Although RMD Server will run on low-end hard drives, SCSI hard drives or drives with low latency times are recommend for large applications.

Proceed with installation only if your server meets or exceeds these requirements. Your server must be located on a network in order for clients to access data. If your clients are distributed via the Internet, you must write a TCP server and client for your specific needs. Please contact our Consulting Services Group if you would like to explore having our developers program a TCP wrapper for you to meet your specific needs.

RMDSConfig.ini

RMD Server installs a file named RMDSConfig.ini in the Windows System folder. This file contains information about the login database location, symbol list location, and database store locations. Example:

[Store]
Directory 1=E:\TickStore_1\
Directory 2=F:\TickStore_2\

[Logins]
Directory=C:\Program Files\Modulus Financial Engineering\RMDServer\Logins\

[Symbols]
Directory=C:\Program Files\Modulus Financial Engineering\RMDServer\Symbols\

The RMD Server Admin Utility creates and maintains this file. RMD Server will not run without this configuration file.
